If I had a dollar for every time I heard the phrase “I really want to get off of Instagram”, I would be filthy rich.
Like, disgustingly filthy rich.
It's no secret that reach on Instagram has been declining over the last few years (honestly, since fall of 2019). This means that Instagram is no longer the acquisition tool it used to be and audience growth has largely slowed.
So, is Instagram dead?
Instagram isn't dead yet. If you were to ask where most of the online fiber folk hang out, it's not Ravelry… it's Instagram.
As much as we may hate Instagram and social media, in some ways, we know that we still need it because we are a visual industry.
Finding the balance
The question is - how do we still use a space like Instagram for our business without throwing all of our time and energy into it?
One thing I highly recommend is to build out a clear and compelling Instagram bio that will ultimately either bring your audience directly to your other channels (via link in bio) or help them make the decision to follow you.
While Instagram has changed a lot over the last few years, my Instagram bio tips mostly have not.
