Jimmy Beans Wool

Laura Zander is the co-owner of Jimmy Beans Wool, a leading online yarn retailer.

She, along with her husband, Doug, worked as software engineers during the dot-com era in the San Francisco Bay Area. Witnessing the dot-com boom's decline, they left their jobs, moved to their Lake Tahoe home, and opened Jimmy Beans Wool over two decades ago. Starting with a $30,000 personal investment, they turned Jimmy Beans into a thriving enterprise, earning four Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Private Companies accolades.

Over the last five years, Laura has expanded the Jimmy Beans Wool brand family through strategic acquisitions & product launches, including della QMadelinetoshJimmy’s SmartStixDream in ColorYarn CitizenShibui Knits, and Simply Shetland.

In 2024, Laura announced the formation of the Maddytosh Group, a distribution group for its wholesale brands. Laura's downtime is spent skiing, running, playing tennis, knitting, or enjoying moments with Doug and their fourteen-year-old son, Huck.
